Forging a Great Company in Bad Economic Times?

15 April 2011

Dave Botley, CEOSince 2007, the construction trade has suffered a downturn, but Industrial Caulk and Seal’s revenues are up and this thriving bedrock company continues to grow. Every facet of Industrial Caulk and Seal is relationship-centered, by design. To strengthen that relationship, ICS has built a new website to help customers find the contact information they need for distributors and vendors all in one place (www.icsincmd.com/vendors.html). Hear how this business is beating the odds!

With roots in Maine and headquarters anchored in Delta, Pennsylvania, ICS has grown to include projects up and down the Eastern Seaboard from North Carolina to Maine. This company has put together the right people for a strong company.  David Botley, CEO and Founder, says “It’s not the David Botley show!”

Industrial Caulk and Seal, Inc. was born out of the soul of a craftsman. As Dave explains, “I grew up in Maine. My brother and uncle owned a small construction business where craftsmanship was a way to offer quality and honest service. Being a small town, any lack of honesty would be found out real soon.”

Dave began at the bottom. He learned how fulfilling it was to do a great job for customers. After work, he’d run into those customers around town, and Dave wanted to be able to hold his head high rather than hide behind a store shelf.

Although Dave left Maine and moved to Pennsylvania in 1995, he still believed in treating his customers like they lived in his small Maine town. The core of Industrial Caulk and Seal, and why ICS has succeeded where others have failed is simple: Treat each customer as if you’re going to know each other a very long time. Industrial Caulk and Seal brings in customers who repeatedly return for more of a good company.

“The downturn in our economy has weeded out the gypsy companies who don’t stand behind their business and warranties,” Dave continued. In fact, in this fly-by-night construction industry what Dave offers is rare: a long-lasting, “I’ll be there for you” customer relationship.

ENSURING RELATIONSHIPS BEYOND DAVE’S LIFETIME

Recently, David Botley expanded the company’s sense of longevity and relationships by bringing on new employees, son Victor Botley, and son-in-law Tim Sochurek. Mr. Botley says, “We have brought together a close family group and dedicated employees who will continue this type of customer relationship and the value of quality craftsmanship long past my lifetime.”

Huge Square Footage Needs Stellar Planning Ability

18 January 2011

This year, ICS initiated a program to perform floor repairs for Home Depot Distribution Centers.

With the help of Jim Marchello and Patrick Smith from Metzger McGuire, we have been able to deliver the much needed repairs without fail and exceed Home Depot’s expectations.

Because these buildings are on average 100,000,000 square feet and run 24/7, they require a lot of planning and collaboration on our part to have the job run smoothly. We would like to shine the spotlight on our Foreman Mike Ayers and his crew for the spectacular job that they have done.

Keep up the good work!
